Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up on his Perth Test hundred celebration

India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a magnificent hundred during the first Test in Perth between Australia and India. He scored 161 off 297 balls in the second innings of the match and helped India post a mammoth target in front of Australia.

Jaiswal smashed an uppercut for a six over the wicketkeeper’s head to reach the three-figure mark. However, he wasn’t sure whether the ball had gone for a four or a six and had to wait for the umpire’s signal.

As soon as it was confirmed to be a six, Yashasvi Jaiswal took off his helmet and celebrated with his arms aloft. He blew away flying kisses to his supporters and decided to enjoy the moment.

Yashasvi Jaiswal speaks about the moment when he reached a hundred

While speaking to the Australian television broadcaster Mark Howard, Yashasvi Jaiswal spoke about the moment when he reached his hundred with a six over the wicketkeeper’s head. Jaiswal revealed that he wanted to do several celebrations after reaching his century but was left confused.

“Yes, it was (an unusual) way to bring up the hundred. In my mind, I was like, I will do this or that, and then suddenly, something happened, and I was like, oh my god, what should I do,” Jaiswal was quoted as saying by PTI.

Ultimately, Jaiswal just decided to stay in the moment and soak in the applause. he claims to have enjoyed the moment and hopes to remember it for a long time.

“So, I was like, okay, I will just celebrate, and I will enjoy this moment. I was blessed, I was grateful, I enjoyed it, this feeling will stay with me for a long time. I give kisses to all my loved ones, all my fans who have supported me. I just wanted to give them my love with the kisses,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal speaks on his emotional backstory

Yashasvi Jaiswal further shared his views on his tough backstory and claimed that it gives him the confidence to fight and come out of any scenario. He enjoys being in the battles and has the hunger to win.

“It’s something (his backstory) that always gives me confidence that I can come out of any situation. I always fight, I always look to fight, I want to be in the battle, I want to enjoy the battle and I want to win the battle,” revealed Jaiswal.

“So this is what it gives me and I am really blessed that I have this life, that can give me a lot of confidence, learnings about myself, how I can believe in me, and how I can go through with different emotions, different situation in my life,” he added.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Test career

Yashasvi Jaiswal has had a superb start to his Test career. The century in the Perth Test is his fourth in 15 Tests. The left-handed opener has scored 1568 runs at a brilliant average of 58.07. He has struck 4 hundreds and 8 fifties so far.

Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck in the first innings at Perth but came back strongly to score a brilliant hundred in the second innings. India will expect him to score heavily in the upcoming Tests of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
