Rohit Sharma’s toss curse continued, as New Zealand won the toss and as expected opted to bat first in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday (March 9). Rohit Sharma’s luck at the toss remained unchanged, putting him in the unwanted record books.

The Indian captain has now lost 12 consecutive tosses in ODIs, a streak that has been continued since the 2013 ODI World Cup. After losing the toss in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Final, Rohit has equaled the unwanted record set by West Indies legend Brian Lara.

Now, Lara, who also lost 12 straight tosses between October 1998 and May 1999, and Rohit share the record of losing the most consecutive tosses in the ODI cricket. To make matters even more bizarre, India as a team has now lost 15 consecutive tosses in ODIs.

Meanwhile, after New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss in Dubai, Rohit Sharma’s hilarious gesture caught the attention of everyone. Actually, the Hitman was seen asking the Indian cricket team not to send him for the toss while gesturing at the dressing room following the toss.
