Sunrisers Eastern Cape edge past Paarl Royals to reach their third SA20 final

The Royals batted first, finishing their innings at 175 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. Lhuan-dre Pretorius top-scored with a brisk 59 off 41 balls, while Rubin Hermann remained unbeaten with an impressive 81 runs from 53 deliveries. The team’s innings was characterized by aggressive batting and strategic partnerships, including a significant second-wicket stand that added 99 runs after Overton’s early breakthrough.

The fall of wickets for the Royals came at crucial junctures: Owen was dismissed for a duck in just his third ball, followed by Pretorius and David Miller falling shortly after. Despite these setbacks, Hermann’s steady innings ensured that they posted a competitive total. The Royals struggled against disciplined bowling from Jansen and Overton, who each claimed a wicket.

In response, the Sunrisers chased down the target with relative ease, scoring 177 runs for just two wickets in 19.2 overs. De Zorzi led the charge with a scintillating 78 off 49 balls, supported ably by Hermann’s unbeaten 69 from 48 balls.
