The much-anticipated The Hundred draft for the 2025 edition took place on March 12, with teams making their final squad selections for the prestigious competition. The draft witnessed a flurry of activity as franchises strategically assembled their squads, securing some of the biggest names in world cricket.

With the player draft now concluded, teams are shifting their focus toward preparations for the highly competitive tournament, which promises thrilling action and high-intensity matchups. The 2025 edition of The Hundred is set to commence on August 5, with an electrifying opening encounter at the iconic Lord’s, where London Spirit will lock horns with Oval Invincibles in what is expected to be a high-stakes battle.

How did The Hundred Draft 2025 unfold?

The draft kicked off with a bang as London Spirit made an impactful first pick, securing England all-rounder Jamie Overton for £200,000. This was swiftly followed by a move in the top salary band, with Afghanistan spinner Noor Ahmad being snapped up by Manchester Originals. Trent Rockets soon followed suit, selecting David Willey, while Southern Brave’s opening pick of the day saw New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell joining their ranks.

The standout pick of the day, however, came in Brave’s second selection, their first in the £120,000 salary band. In a surprising move, they drafted Australian opening batter David Warner. Although Warner retired from international cricket last year, he will now make his way to Lord’s under the guidance of head coach Justin Langer.

Other notable signings included New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra, who will be heading to Old Trafford, and fellow Kiwi Lockie Ferguson, who has been recruited by Rockets. Zak Crawley, who was released by London Spirit following a finger injury that sidelined him during last year’s competition, was swiftly snapped up by the Andrew Flintoff-led Northern Superchargers. The Headingley-based side also bolstered their squad with the addition of Dan Lawrence.

In other significant domestic moves, Lewis Gregory, who captained Rockets to the 2022 title, has found a new home with Manchester Originals, while Ben McKinney also joined the Originals, further strengthening their roster.
