Indian batter Rinku Singh got engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj at The Centrum Hotel in Lucknow on Sunday, June 8. The news comes after weeks of speculation about the couple’s relationship, and close family members, friends, and a few personalities from cricket and politics attended the ceremony.

Priya Saroj (25) is among the youngest MPs in the current Lok Sabha and represents the Machhlishahr constituency in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district. Rinku Singh recently played in the IPL 2025 season for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He gained attention after smashing five consecutive sixes in the IPL.

Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj celebrated their engagement with a lavish ceremony attended by over 300 guests, including notable figures from cricket and politics. The couple arrived together at Fulcurn Hall, which was beautifully decorated with floral arrangements and colorful lighting.

Ahead of the event, Rinku visited the Chaudhera Wali Vichitra Devi Temple in Bulandshahr with his family to seek blessings. A video from the ceremony, showing the couple holding hands and exchanging rings, has since gone viral on social media.

Former cricketers Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla, UP Ranji captain Aryan Juyal, and key political leaders such as SP president Akhilesh Yadav, MPs Jaya Bachchan, Dimple Yadav, and Iqra Hasan, along with senior SP leader Ram Gopal Yadav and Congress leader Rajeev Shukla, attended the event.

BCCI vice president Rajeev Shukla extended his best wishes to Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj following their engagement. Shukla described the couple as a perfect match, expressing confidence that they would build a strong and successful life together.

“May both of them enjoy a beautiful life, this is a wonderful match. Each excels in their own field, and together, they will make a strong and successful pair,” Shukla was quoted as saying by the news agency PTI.

Rinku Singh’s Cricketing Career

Rinku Singh had a modest outing in IPL 2025. He scored 206 runs for the Kolkata Knight Riders at an average of 29.42 and a strike rate of 153.73. His team struggled throughout the season, managing just five wins in 14 matches to finish eighth on the points table with 12 points and a net run rate of -0.305.

Rinku has been part of India’s T20I setup. The southpaw made his debut against Ireland in 2023. He has featured in 30 T20Is, scoring 507 runs from 22 innings at an impressive average of 46.09 and a strike rate of 165.14, including three fifties.

The 27-year-old has also played in two ODIs for India and has a notable domestic track record. Rinku has amassed 1,899 runs in 52 List A innings at an average of 48.69 with a strike rate of 94.8.
