Former Pakistan National Cricket Team player Rashid Latif made a massive statement ahead of the ICC’s meeting related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He believes that the statement of PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi on Afghanistan may force them to take a critical step.
Pakistan Cricket Board chief Mohsin Naqvi, who is also the Interior Minister in Pakistan, made a strong statement on Wednesday (27th November). He said that Afghan nationals would not be allowed to stay in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) without proper authorization after December 31.
This comes after the unrest in Pakistan, which saw criminals as well as Afghan nationals, being part of the PTI’s ‘violent protest’, reported Pakistan media. However, this made Mohsin Naqvi take a bold step, and the citizens from the neighboring country won’t be allowed to stay in Pakistan.
Mohsin Naqvi mentioned that Afghan citizens who wish to stay in the capital beyond this year must obtain a no-objection certificate from the deputy commissioner
Mohsin Naqvi mentioned that Afghan citizens who wish to stay in the capital beyond this year must obtain a no-objection certificate from the deputy commissioner. This, in turn, would be a massive blow to the people of Afghanistan staying in Pakistan.
Amid all the fuss, Rashid Latif believes that Pakistan’s action towards Afghanistan might play a role in the ICC meeting. The virtual meeting will be taking place on 29th November, and it will most probably conclude the issue surrounding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Rashid Latif, however, made a strong statement, saying that Mohsin Naqvi has hurt Afghanistan with his step and action and believed that the Afghanistan Cricket Board will take a critical step in the ICC Meeting related to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He also urged the PCB chairman to do things diplomatically. Speaking in a viral video on X.com, he explained:
“The talk related to Afghanistan in Pakistan will play a role in the ICC meeting related to ICC Champions Trophy 2025. A hint is enough for the wise people, Afghanistan is hurt by the statement of Pakistan’s Interior Minister and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi and may take a critical step in the ICC Meeting. Give my message to Mohsin Naqvi that things are done in a diplomatic way and not the way he did.”
Don’t make an enemy, make a friend – Rashid Latif
Rashid Latif further said that there will be a reaction to the Mohsin Naqvi’s statement. He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board to make friends and not enemies ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. While elaborating on the same, he explained:
“There will be a reaction. There will be a reaction, I am telling you. I am not looking at it like that. But they do agree a little bit. We talked at one place. But you and I can’t do things. Bad things happen. If the third team stands up, what will you do? Don’t make an enemy, make a friend. And the second team is going like this. Don’t make an enemy, make a friend.”
