Pakistan to introduce ‘Strike Force’ as Mohsin Naqvi aims to transform T20I team

In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Pakistan media, it is learned that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has come up with a major development plan for cricket in the country. The head of the board will be focusing on improving the T20I cricket.

Mohsin Naqvi will be introducing ‘Strike Force’ to improve Pakistan’s T20 side. According to this, the PCB will be shortlisting the 50 young hard-hitting batters on merit from across the country, and the selection of these batters will be made by former all-rounder Abdul Razzaq.

The 50 batters will be selected and will trained to hit long sixes and fours in Strike force

The 50 batters who will be selected will be trained to hit long sixes and fours. The purpose of the Strike Force is to inject fresh blood into the T20 squad of the Mohammad Rizwan-led side. The players will be developed and added to the national team within one year of the training.

This will be a massive boost for all the young talent in the country who go unnoticed. Apart from the Pakistan Super League, the Strike Force will be a massive platform for young talent to showcase their talent and get an opportunity to represent the Nation.

Pakistan had poor outings in T20Is of late

This comes after the poor performances of the Men in Green in the T20Is of late. They faced disappointing losses in the series against the Australia National Cricket Team and the South Africa National Cricket Team as they are building the new team in the shortest format of the game.

The young guns who were selected for the team didn’t show much promise and couldn’t get going at all. Their poor effort with the bat was one of the main reasons why they went on to lose the series against the Australia National Cricket Team and the South Africa National Cricket Team.

The Strike Force will be a positive step in the development of the Pakistan team in T20Is

The Strike Force will be a positive step in the development of the team. This will allow them to have a strong core for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. In the T20 World Cup 2024, the Men in Green struggled to get going and were eliminated from the tournament in the group stage itself.

PCB recently announced a change in leadership as well. Mohammad Rizwan was appointed as the new leader of the team in white-ball cricket, and so far, the keeper-batter has done a great job as under him, the team won the ODI series in Australia as well as South Africa.

Mohammad Rizwan would be keen to carry on the same form as a leader in both formats. The keeper-batter’s first major assignment will be the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will be a home tournament for them, and they will be looking to defend the title.
