India vs Pakistan in WTC Final!! Aakash Chopra predicts fate of both teams in ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle

Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Aakash Chopra has predicted the fate of India and Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle.

Aakash Chopra said that both India and Pakistan have a good chance of making it to the final of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27.

I feel we will win all three of these series – Aakash Chopra

Speaking on his official YouTube channel, the cricketer-turned-commentator predicted that India will win their home series against West Indies, South Africa, and Australia to gain crucial WTC Points, but it won’t be easy because the team is in a transition phase. Aakash Chopra said:

“India’s home series is against Australia, the West Indies, and South Africa. I feel we will win all three of these series. We will win against the West Indies and South Africa, although it might not be that straightforward, as we are also going through a transition, and beat Australia as well.”

India qualified for the finals in the first two cycles of the ICC World Test Championship, but they faced defeats against New Zealand and Australia.

In the 2023-25 cycle, the Rohit Sharma-led team had a great chance of making it to their third consecutive final, but a shock 0-3 whitewash in the home series against New Zealand dashed the hopes.

You cannot bullishly say that India would qualify for sure – Aakash Chopra

India recently drew the five-match Test series against the England National Cricket Team on English soil and currently are in third spot on the WTC Points Table with a PCT of 46.67.

Aakash Chopra believes that India will perform well in the away Test series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand and will be running for a spot in the WTC Final, but one can’t be bullish about their chances. He said:

“One of our away series is against Sri Lanka. I am expecting us to garner a lot of points there. New Zealand is tough. I think we should be okay. We will once again be in the running. We will be in the top three or four. Of course, since we are going through a transition, you cannot bullishly say that India would qualify for sure, but I consider India to be a strong contender.”

They should actually be okay – Aakash Chopra on Pakistan

While talking about India’s arch-rivals, Aakash Chopra predicted that Pakistan would perform well in the home series against New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka, and just need to compete well against England in the away series. He feels that the Shan Masood-led side have got a good chance of making it to their first WTC Final.

“Pakistan’s home series are against New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka. They should actually be okay. Pakistan should do well at home, unless they start making roads. Their away series are against England, the West Indies and Bangladesh.

“Pakistan have a favorable draw again. Win in the West Indies and Bangladesh, compete a little in England, and beat Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and South Africa at home. Pakistan have a good chance. However, I have said that about Pakistan earlier as well when their away series were in the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. However, they didn’t win a single series at home,” Chopra said.
