Team India are presently the reigning T20 world champions. The Men in Blue won the T20 World Cup in 2024 under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. It was India’s second T20 World Cup title and first since MS Dhoni guided them to glory in the inaugural edition in 2007.
After the victory in the T20 World Cup in 2024, India embarked on a new journey in the shortest format of the game. Immediately after the win, captain Rohit Sharma and India’s most decorated T20 batsman, Virat Kohli, announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game. Veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja brought down the curtains on his illustrious career too.
Rohit was replaced by Suryakumar Yadav as India’s T20I captain. While replacing the likes of Rohit, Kohli and Jadeja won’t be easy for India, the team is blessed to have a number of talented cricketers.
The likes of Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Nitish Reddy, Rinku Singh and others have looked promising and have been backed to become Indian cricket’s flagbearers in the coming years.
