In a great development for the India National Cricket Team, Suryakumar Yadav is in the last stage of his recovery and is working hard to get fully fit before the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 in the UAE. Suryakumar Yadav had sports hernia surgery in Munich, Germany, in June 2025.
Since then, the Indian T20I captain has been training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. The right-handed batter has been steadily increasing his workload under the guidance of the medical and training staff of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Suryakumar Yadav yet to attain 100 % fitness!!
Now, a Times of India report claimed that Suryakumar Yadav is still not 100% fit, so he will stay at the NCA for another week to attain full fitness. He will continue to work closely with the physios and medical team to build his fitness and get ready in time for the upcoming continental tournament.
The upcoming Asia Cup 2025 is all set to get underway on September 9, and India will play their first match on September 10 against the UAE. And the Men in Blue hope that their captain will be ready in time to lead them in the tournament, as it will be played in the T20I format.
Recently, Suryakumar Yadav posted a video on Instagram showing his training at the NCA. He was seen running, exercising, and hitting the nets to get back into rhythm. His return will give India a big boost, as his batting and leadership will be crucial in the eight-team Asian cricket competition.

Notably, Suryakumar was last seen in action in the IPL 2025, where he was a star performer for the Mumbai Indians. The star batter ended the season as the second-highest run-getter with 717 runs, just falling short of Gujarat Titans’ Sai Sudharsan, who won the Orange Cap.

Hardik Pandya joins NCA for fitness Test ahead of Asia Cup 2025
Meanwhile, as reported by the Times of India, Hardik Pandya has joined the NCA in Bengaluru as part of his preparation for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025. The Indian all-rounder, who has been sharpening his skills in Mumbai since mid-July, will go through a routine fitness test at the NCA on August 11 and 12.
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer recently finished his fitness assessment at the NCA, which took place from July 27 to 29. Despite shining for Mumbai in domestic cricket, Iyer was overlooked for the recent England tour.
Earlier this year, he led Punjab Kings to the IPL 2025 final, but his spot in India’s T20I line-up for the Asia Cup 2025 is far from guaranteed.
Rishabh Pant cleared of surgery; Shubman Gill to make T20I comeback
Well, in positive news for the Indian cricket team, star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who suffered a toe fracture during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, will not require surgery. This boosts Pant’s chances of returning to action sooner than expected.
Even some reports claimed that Shubman Gill is gearing up for his T20I comeback, and this time with added responsibility as India’s vice-captain. The young Test skipper has been in great form with the bat, finishing the England tour with the highest runs, over 750.
