ICC Test Rankings: Jasprit Bumrah reclaims top spot; Yashasvi Jaiswal climbs to second position

Team India’s ace fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reclaimed the No. 1 position in the ICC Test rankings for bowlers, achieving his career-best rating of 883. This comes on the back of his sensational performance against Australia in the Perth Test, where he picked up a match-winning haul of 8 for 72.

Jasprit Bumrah’s stellar rise

Bumrah’s exceptional figures of 5 for 30 in the first innings were pivotal in bundling Australia out for just 104. His exploits saw him leapfrog South Africa‘s Kagiso Rabada and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood to reclaim the top spot. Bumrah first ascended to No. 1 in February after his nine-wicket haul against England and briefly regained the position in October following the Bangladesh series. His latest performance solidifies his dominance as one of the finest bowlers in the longest format.

India’s Mohammed Siraj also impressed in Perth, taking five wickets across both innings. His efforts saw him rise three spots to claim the 25th position in the Test bowler rankings.

Yashasvi Jaiswal shines among batters

Yashasvi Jaiswal continues to make waves in Test cricket, moving to the No. 2 position in the ICC Test batting rankings. His brilliant 161 in the second innings of the Perth Test helped India seal the win and earned him a career-best rating of 825 points. Jaiswal overtook New Zealand’s Kane Williamson and England’s Harry Brook, trailing only Joe Root, who retains the top spot with 903 points.

India’s Virat Kohli also made significant strides in the rankings, jumping nine spots to 13th after scoring his 30th Test century in the same game.

Other notable gains in rankings

Australia’s Travis Head climbed three spots to break into the top 10 Test batters, sitting at No. 10 following his 89 in the second innings against India.

The West Indies fast-bowling trio of Jayden Seales, Kemar Roach, and Alzarri Joseph made notable progress in the bowler rankings. Seales moved three places up to 11th with figures of 5 for 87, Roach rose four spots to 17th after taking 4 for 50, and Joseph climbed three spots to 29th following his 5 for 101. Their contributions were instrumental in West Indies’ commanding 201-run victory over Bangladesh in Antigua.
