Glenn Phillips suffers a horrific exit from IPL 2025; flies back to New Zealand

New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips is reportedly set to miss the remainder of IPL 2025. The details of his departure remain unclear, but reports suggest he sustained a groin injury. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to make an official statement soon.

Glenn Phillips was a key performer for New Zealand during the Champions Trophy, where they finished as runners-up to India. The Gujarat Titans secured him at his base price of Rs 2 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction. However, Phillips has yet to feature in any of the Titans’ matches this season.

Glenn Phillips Suffers Groin Injury While Fielding as a Substitute

Glenn Phillips suffered a groin injury while fielding as a substitute during the IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. The injury occurred during the last over of the powerplay. Phillips, who was covering the point region, attempted to throw the ball and appeared to have strained his groin.

The 28-year-old collapsed on the field in pain, and the Gujarat Titans’ physio quickly rushed to assist him. After a long delay, Phillips was helped off the field by a teammate for further treatment.
