India will be up against England in the second of the five-match IND vs ENG Test series 2025. This article provides details about England’s Playing 11 vs India for the second Test of the IND vs ENG series.
England Playing 11 vs India- 2nd Test, India Tour of England 2025:
Openers: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett
England will open the innings with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett in the second Test of the five-match series against India.
The pair will look to continue the good work they did in the second innings of the first Test by adding 188 runs for the first wicket while chasing a daunting target of 371 runs.
Crawley and Duckett both took the aggressive approach from the first ball and didn’t let the Indian bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah and bowl on a particular length.
Duckett in particular was more aggressive of the two openers as he cut and pulled the India and was severe against Ravindra Jadeja.
The left-hander employed the sweep and reverse sweep shot to perfection and did not let the left-arm spinner settle.
Crawley, on the other hand, made full use of the opportunity he got in the second innings after falling to Bumrah in the first over of the first innings and gave good support to Duckett by scoring a half-century.
The batter would hope to go a step further and score a century in the upcoming match scheduled to take place at Edgbaston.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (c), Jamie Smith (wk), Chris Woakes
The English middle order made a resounding comeback after failing to convert starts into big scores and guided the team to a famous win after a few nervy moments on the final day.
The chase in the middle order was led by former captain Joe Root, who steadied the ship after England lost two wickets in quick succession after a solid start.
Root built small but vital partnerships with Duckett and Stokes to take the team close to the target, which was accomplished courtesy of a partnership between him and Jamie Smith.
The host would want a slightly better performance from their middle-order batters come the second Test match.
Having said that, the hosts would be elated by the contribution of the team’s lower middle order, as the contribution of the final four batters made a huge difference in the end.
Bowlers: Brydon Carse, Shoaib Bashir, Josh Tongue
England’s squad has been boosted by the return of fast bowler Jofra Archer, who is a part of the team for the second Test.
However, the hosts are expected to go with an unchanged squad in the second Test against India. The onus will be on Chris Woakes and Brydon Carse to pick early wickets for the team.
Woakes, especially, would like to get things right in the second match as he appeared to struggle with his bowling in the opening game.
Josh Tongue will once again play a crucial role in the match and will have the responsibility of getting rid of the tailenders, while Shoaib Bashir will take care of the spin bowling department.
We’re ready to do it all again at @Edgbaston on Wednesday! 🏟 😍
