RCB will be playing the tournament opener of IPL 2025 against KKR
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be playing the tournament opener against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The match will be taking place at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata and both the franchises will be keen to start the new season on a high.
On paper, RCB looks like one of the most settled teams in the IPL 2025. The franchise acquired some big match-winners in the auction, and it’s fair to say that if they play to their potential, they will be one of the hot candidates to win the league.
The franchise also recently announced Rajat Patidar as their new skipper. The youngster will be leading a team full of stars, including Virat Kohli, and would want to take the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first-ever title win in the history of the IPL.
We did look to understand that we wanted to spread the whole auction first towards batters and bowlers equally – Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik talked about the squad, saying that they wanted to spread the auction equally towards batters and bowlers. He mentioned that they picked the team which they thought would best suit them. Speaking to NDTV, he said:
“So this auction, we did look to understand that we wanted to spread the whole auction first towards batters and bowlers equally, and we picked a team according to what we thought was the best way to put out a level on the path.”
Will try and do everything to give equal importance to each and every player – Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik admitted that they looked good on paper and they will be trying to give equal importance to each and every player. While elaborating on the same, he explained:
“And so far, the team does look good on paper and having said that, I think all teams do look good on paper, but RCB definitely will try and do everything to give equal importance to each and every player, their role and what they can do for the team in tough conditions.”
RCB are one of the three franchises who are yet to win the IPL title. The team will be keen to end their title drought this year and lift their maiden trophy under Rajat Patidar.
