Champions Trophy 2025: PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu congratulate Indian team on their historic triumph




The Dubai International Stadium has witnessed history in making. The Indian team outperformed New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 to clinch a historic 3rd title in their vault. With this win, joy and thrill erupted in the cricketing world as fans celebrated India’s triumph. However, the kind of cricket India has played during the course of the tournament has resulted in a resounding applause from dignitaries beyond the world of cricket.

A special congratulatory message from PM Narendra Modi

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi who has cherished the love for the game and the Men in Blue for a time, has sent his appreciation for the Indian team on their emphatic win in Champions Trophy 2025. PM Modi, who has cheered the Indian team in the stands during the 2023 ODI World Cup, talked about the emphatic performance of the team during the tournament.

“An exceptional game and an exceptional result! Proud of our cricket team for bringing home the ICC Champions Trophy. They’ve played wonderfully through the tournament. Congratulations to our team for the splendid all round display,” the Prime Minister wrote on social media.

Appreciation from President Droupadi Murmu

Apart from PM Modi, words of appreciation also came from President Droupadi Murmu. The President took to social media to extend her congratulations to the Indian team for the historic milestone they have achieved. President Murmu talked about the role of the players, coaching staff and management in bringing about triumph to the nation through their remarkable performance.

“Heartiest congratulations to Team India for winning the ICC Champions Trophy, 2025. India becomes the only team to win the Trophy thrice. The players, the management and the support staff deserve highest accolades for creating cricketing history. I wish Indian cricket a very bright future,” the President remarked on social media.

The Indian team has managed to outperform New Zealand and chase down the target of 251 runs put together by New Zealand. A power-packed performance from skipper Rohit Sharma with the bat and notable contributions from KL Rahul and Axar Patel towards the end enabled the team to win the match by 4 wickets with 6 balls to spare.
