Champions League: Liverpool v Real Madrid

Match Preview

Liverpool will hope to maintain their blistering form – and set down a marker to the rest of Europe’s big guns – when they host Real Madrid tomorrow night.

Arne Slot’s side have won 13 and drawn one of their last 14 games in all competitions, a run extended by the 3-2 victory at Southampton on Sunday.

After the game, star striker Mohamed Salah again expressed his desire to remain at Anfield and sign a new contract and the issue does have the potential to overshadow what has been a remarkable start to the season.

Salah will play tomorrow, unlike the visitors’ best player, Vinicius Jr, who has been ruled out for up to a month through injury.

That means Kylian Mbappe is likely to revert to his preferred position on the left of a front three.

Liverpool top the revamped Champions League table with a 100 per cent record after four games. Madrid are down in 18th having lost to Lille and AC Milan.
