The venue of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting, which was supposed to take a final call on Asia Cup 2025 future is reportedly set to be moved from Dhaka. The upcoming ACC meeting is scheduled to take place in the Bangladeshi capital on July 24.
The meeting will decide the fate of this year’s Asia Cup. However, the venue of the meeting has become the talk of the town in the lead-up to the event. BCCI’s participation in the meeting is highly unlikely due to the present political scene in Bangladesh.
BCCI has already cancelled Bangladesh tour
Recently, the BCCI also postponed India’s tour of Bangladesh that was scheduled to take place in August. However, the Indian cricket board did not specify any reason for its decision to postpone the series.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have mutually agreed to defer the white-ball series, three ODIs and three Twenty20 Internationals, between Bangladesh and India in August 2025 to September 2026,” stated a release from the BCCI.
ACC meeting venue to be changed ahead of Asia Cup 2025:
Recently, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam stated that he is expecting all the ACC members, including the BCCI, to attend the annual general meeting in Dhaka on July 24. He brushed aside all the recent reports and stated that Dhaka is all set to host the meeting.
“The Asian Cricket Council is the mother body or governing body of cricket in Asia, and previously we have never hosted a major meeting of the Asian Cricket Council,” Aminul told reporters on Monday.
“We will hold an official dinner on the 23rd and the ACC AGM in Dhaka on the 24th (July) in Dhaka where almost every country will participate,” he said. “This is a big achievement for us, and till now everything is going according to plan (as far as hosting the ACC meeting concerned), and you will receive further updates in due course,” he added.
BCCI opposes ACC’s vile move
However, the Times of India has reported that the ACC meeting is unlikely to take place in Dhaka. In case the meeting does not take place in Dhaka, Dubai is the frontrunner to host the event.

Just like the ACC meeting, the fate of the Asia Cup 2025 is also not clear at the moment. The recent India-Pakistan border tension has put the continental championship in jeopardy. Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to be played in September this year with India being the hosts. The fate of the tournament will be decided in the ACC meeting.
