On Saturday, December 7, the governing body officially announced the Player Auction list for the Women’s Premier League 2025 auction (WPL Auction 2025).
The Women’s Premier League 2025 auction (WPL Auction 2025) is all set to be held on December 15, 2024, in Bengaluru. The event is set to start at 3 PM on Sunday.

WPL Auction 2025: 120 players shortlisted
A total of 120 players have been finalized by the governing body to go under the hammer at the Women’s Premier League auction. Out of those 120 cricketers, 91 players are Indians and 29 are overseas cricketers, with 3 from Associate Nations. Those Associate Nation players are Scotland’s Sarah Bryce and UAE’s Samaira Dharnidharka and Theertha Satish.
Nine players entering the auction are capped Indians while 21 are capped overseas players. Also, the Player Auction list consists of 82 uncapped Indian players and 8 overseas uncapped players.
However, only 19 players will be sold at the auction, with 5 of them being foreigners, as only these many spots are open across all five Women’s Premier League (WPL) teams.

WPL Auction 2025: Teams given INR 15 crore to build squads
Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, Gujarat Giants, Delhi Capitals Women, and UP Warriorz have been given a total of INR 15 crore to build their squads for the 2025 season, which is an increase from last year’s INR 13.5 crore purse.
Gujarat Giants will be entering the auction with the biggest purse of INR 4.40 crore and they will be aiming to rebuild their squad after releasing 7 players.
The two-time runners-up Delhi Capitals Women, meanwhile, will have the smallest purse of INR 2.5 crore. The rest of the teams – Mumbai Indians Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, and UP Warriorz have a purse of INR 2.65 crore, INR 3.25 crore, and INR 3.90 crore.
Delhi Capitals Women, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians Women, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have four slots each open while UP Warriorz have three available slots.
The biggest attraction in this year’s auction will be West Indies all-rounder Deandra Dottin, England captain Heather Knight and former South African wicketkeeper Lizelle Lee, who all have the highest base price of INR 50 lakh.
The Women’s Premier League 2025 is set to be played in the February-March window, and after that, from 2026, it will be shifted to the January-February window.
Like IPL, WPL isn’t played in the home-and-away format, and only a limited number of venues host the matches. The inaugural season was entirely hosted by Mumbai while the second season was played across Bengaluru and New Delhi.
