The Hundred Women’s 2025: Davina Perrin powers Northern Superchargers to an emphatic win over Trent Rockets

Northern Superchargers Women emerged victorious against the Trent Rockets Women in the 8th match of The Hundred Women’s 2025. The contest, highlighted by brilliant individual performances, saw Davina Perrin’s explosive half-century steer the Superchargers to a well-deserved win after Ashleigh Gardner’s heroic effort gave the Rockets a fighting chance.

Trent Rockets’ rocky start redeemed by Ashleigh Gardner’s brilliance

Trent Rockets, batting first, posted a challenging total of 128 for the loss of eight wickets from their allotted 100 balls. Their innings got off to a shaky start, losing Bryony Smith (1), Natasha Wraith (1), and Grace Scrivens (1) all for single-digit scores within the first 18 balls. This early collapse left the Rockets reeling at 5-3, putting immense pressure on the middle order.

However, a crucial partnership began to build between captain Ashleigh Gardner and all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt. Sciver-Brunt, with a run-a-ball 15, provided some much-needed stability before falling to Kate Cross. It was Gardner who then took the attack to the Superchargers, unleashing a blistering display of power hitting. Her magnificent innings of 61 runs came off just 32 balls, decorated with a remarkable 10 fours, boasting an impressive strike rate of 190.62. Gardner’s aggressive approach single-handedly revived the Rockets’ innings, pushing them towards a respectable total.

Support came briefly from Heather Graham (15 off 23) and Emma Jones (12 off 10), but the Superchargers’ bowlers maintained pressure. Kate Cross was the star with the ball for the Superchargers, picking up three crucial wickets for just 31 runs from her 20 balls. Grace Ballinger (1 wicket for 25 runs), Linsey Smith (1 wicket for 19 runs), and Annabel Sutherland (1 wicket for 24 runs) also contributed effectively, ensuring the Rockets couldn’t accelerate too much in the death overs.

Davina Perrin’s masterclass anchors Northern Superchargers’ victory

Chasing 129 for victory, the Northern Superchargers got off to a flyer thanks to Davina Perrin’s aggressive intent. Perrin played an exceptional knock, remaining unbeaten on a phenomenal 72 runs from just 40 balls, including 12 boundaries. Her fearless batting set the tone for the chase and kept the required run rate well within control.

Alice Davidson Richards provided a steady hand at the other end, scoring 11 runs before being caught by Nat Sciver off Heather Graham’s bowling. This brought Phoebe Litchfield to the crease, and she wasted no time, smashing a quickfire 22 off just 10 balls, featuring five fours, pushing the Superchargers closer to their target with her destructive hitting. Litchfield was eventually bowled by Cassidy McCarthy, but by then, the Superchargers were in a dominant position at 95/2.

Annabel Sutherland then joined Perrin and continued the momentum, remaining unbeaten on 18 runs off 11 balls, guiding the Superchargers home comfortably. For Trent Rockets, Heather Graham and Cassidy McCarthy managed to pick up a wicket each, but the overall bowling effort was not enough to contain the Superchargers’ charge, particularly Perrin’s masterclass.
