In a heartwarming event that brought together the worlds of cricket and politics, Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and the Member of Parliament Priya Saroj exchanged engagement rings in a grand ceremony at Lucknow’s luxury Centrum Hotel.
The highlight of the evening was an emotional moment caught on video as Rinku gently placed the engagement ring on Priya’s finger, she broke down in tears, moved by the significance of the occasion and the outpouring of affection from family and friends.
Rinku Singh and Priya Saroj’s engagement: A star-studded affair
The engagement ceremony, attended by around 300 VIP guests, was a blend of glamour and tradition. The guest list included prominent names such as Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, Dimple Yadav, actress Jaya Bachchan and several other political leaders and celebrities from the cricketing world. Former cricketers Praveen Kumar and Piyush Chawla, along with UP Ranji captain Aryan Juyal, were among the sports personalities present to celebrate the couple’s new beginning.
Security at the venue was tight, with special passes and barcode scanning systems ensuring a smooth entry for guests. The festivities took place in the hotel’s Fulcurn Hall, which was specially decorated for the occasion, reflecting both families’ attention to detail and desire for a memorable celebration.

Priya’s father, Tufani Saroj, a senior Samajwadi Party leader and three-time MP, expressed his joy and pride, noting that the engagement was the culmination of months of discussions and mutual consent between the families. He shared that the couple had known each other for over a year, having been introduced through a mutual friend whose father is also a cricketer. Their relationship blossomed with the blessings of both families, leading to this celebrated union.
Guests enjoyed a lavish all-vegetarian menu, with a special focus on Awadhi cuisine and the couple’s favourite dishes. The culinary spread included a variety of Indian, European and Asian starters, with signature items like gulab ki thandi kheer and achari cigar rolls. The main course featured classics such as malai kofta and kadhai paneer, ensuring that the event was as much a treat for the palate as it was for the heart.
