Bayern Munich will look to take their all-conquering domestic form into tomorrow night’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.
Friday night’s 3-0 win against Augsburg – secured by another Harry Kane hat-trick – was their fifth on the spin without conceding a goal in the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
It has not been as straightforward in Europe, however, and Vincent Kompany’s men need a win to maintain their push for a top-eight finish and an automatic place in the round of 16.
They have two wins – against Dinamo Zagreb and Benfica – but also two defeats – against Aston Villa and Barcelona – with Kompany receiving plenty of criticism for the 4-1 hammering in Catalonia in particular.
PSG are in a similar position in that they continue to dominate in Ligue 1 but have looked less impressive in the Champions League.
Luis Enrique’s side have dropped just four points in 12 French top-flight games but have just four points from four games among the continent’s elite. They sit in 25th place in the 36-team league and can’t afford many more slip-ups.
