India Playing 11 vs England

India will be eyeing a series-clinching victory when they take on England in the second ODI of the ongoing three-match series. The match is scheduled to be played on Sunday (February 9) at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

The Men in Blue have a 1-0 lead after their 4-wicket win in the first ODI. Riding high on confidence after the 4-1 win in the T20Is, India pretty much outplayed England in the first ODI as well. Asked to bowl first, India bowled out England for 248 runs despite their openers adding 75 runs for the first wicket and fifties from Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethell.

With the bat, India crossed the finishing line in less than 39 overs. The hosts were off to a shaky start as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to get going. However, Shubman Gill, Axar Patel, and Shreyas Iyer hit the fifties to take the team home comfortably in the end.

With India now eyeing an unassailable lead in the series, we are taking a look at the India Playing 11 for the second IND vs ENG ODI.

India Playing 11 vs England – 2nd ODI, England tour of India 2025:

Openers: Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill

Team India could have a new opening combination for the second ODI. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are expected to be the openers in the India Playing 11 for the upcoming game. In the first game, Yashasvi Jaiswal opened the innings with Rohit while Gill batted at number three as Virat Kohli missed the game.

However, Jaiswal failed to impress on his ODI debut and was dismissed by Jofra Archer for just 15 runs. He is likely to make way for Gill in the India Playing 11. Gill scored 87 runs in the first ODI and will be eyeing another good outing.

On the other hand, Rohit will be desperate to impress with the bat after being out for just two runs in the series-opener.

Middle-order batsmen and allrounders: Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja

India could make at least one change to their middle order. Virat Kohli is likely to return to the India Playing 11 after missing the second ODI due to a swollen knee. In his absence, Gill batted at number three and the youngster is expected to be promoted as an opener once again.

Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul will be the other batting options in the team. Iyer played a brilliant knock in the first ODI. After India lost two early wickets, he scored a quickfire fifty to get the innings back on track. The right-handed batsman scored 59 runs off just 36 balls.

KL Rahul scored just 2 runs in the game and will be looking to do well in the upcoming game. Hardik Pandya scored an unbeaten 9 and went wicketless with the ball.

The other two all-rounders – Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja – had a brilliant outing. Axar scored a fifty and picked up a wicket while Jadeja picked up 3 wickets and scored an unbeaten 12.

Bowlers: Mohammed Shami, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav

India are unlikely to change their bowling lineup after the win in the first ODI. The India Playing 11 is set to have two frontline pacers and one spinner.

Mohammed Shami and Harshit Rana will be the two pacers while Kuldeep Yadav will be the specialist spinner in the India Playing 11. Rana picked up 3 wickets in the first ODI while Shami and Kuldeep claimed one wicket each. If India wins this match, they will win the ODI series too after beating England in the T20I series.
